Wildlife watching

Wild Taiga, the area where Upitrek tours are organized can boast vast untouched wilderness areas inhabited by rare large carnivores - brown bear (Ursus arctos), wolf (Canis lupus), lynx (Lynx lynx), wolverine (Gulo gulo) - and many other animals. The area is one of the best in Europe for seeing and photographing the large carnivores in their natural habitat.

During a guided tour, participants can observe and photograph animals safely and without disturbing them from purpose-built small log hides. In addition to large carnivore observation tours, several companies in the area organize eg. moose and bird observation tours.

Summer months are the high season for wildlife watching but some tours are organized also in winter, especially in February-March.
